OliVe – Monthly activities to promote social connections and longevity for people aged 60 and older

Avatar: Dina Piazza Dina Piazza

Your project in two lines:
The non-profit association OliVe, founded in March 2026, offers an annual program featuring one outing or workshop per month for seniors (ages 60 and up) in the Nyon region. The existing ideas for activities were further developed thanks to discussions at our booth at the Nyon Market on June 27, 2026. Our approach is aligned with the concept of active aging and the Blue Zones—regions where residents live long, healthy lives while remaining engaged in their communities.
The goal of your project
The project’s goal is to promote lifestyle habits that foster longevity and well-being. OliVe works to strengthen social ties among people aged 60 and older and prevent social isolation. The association is also dedicated to raising participants’ awareness of practices that support physical, mental, and social health. As part of this effort, OliVe organizes activities, workshops, gatherings, and projects aligned with these objectives. The project aims to bring seniors together within a local community where they can help define and shape activities according to their interests and needs. By building on their aspirations, OliVe encourages an active lifestyle while fostering the creation of lasting social connections among participants, as well as across generations.
Your project in detail:

OliVe’s program is based on the needs and interests expressed by seniors during our visit to the Nyon Market: walks, swimming by the lake, gentle exercise and Pilates, cycling, painting, dance, movies, cultural tours, picnics, and more.
It is organized around three complementary formats: “Meetings & Cafés, dedicated to moments of conversation and camaraderie; “Workshops, focused on the body, mind, and creativity; and “Activities, centered on outings, discoveries, and outdoor experiences.
From November 2026 to October 2027, the program includes one activity or workshop per month, supplemented by an intergenerational kickoff day at the start of the season as well as occasional get-togethers between activities to maintain connections within the group.
The activities will be co-developed and led by the OliVe team (interns and volunteers) as well as by the participants themselves. External facilitators will also be brought in for certain specific activities requiring specialized expertise (lectures, sports, dance, health, wellness, creativity, etc.).
All activities will be held in Nyon and the surrounding area, at accessible venues, with alternative options available, including indoor locations in case of inclement weather. The goal for this first year is to build a stable group, encourage regular meetings, and establish a sustainable community rhythm.
Among the initial offerings, a summer workshop is planned for July 30, 2026, focusing on longevity and movement. It will include a gentle, friendly walk from the Nyon train station to Nyon Beach, followed by discussions on healthy lifestyle habits, a shared picnic, and free time by the lake.

The exact address of your project, if known, as well as the neighborhood(s) involved
The OliVe association is headquartered in Trélex. Our activities take place in the Nyon area and are open to residents of the region. We plan to use various locations in the municipality of Nyon, such as the community hall, the Château, and the city’s parks. In addition, we hope to collaborate with local partners to occasionally make use of their spaces.
