Together in Nyon!

Avatar: Association Le lieu-dit Association Le lieu-dit

Your project in two lines:
Pairings between long-time residents and newcomers to Nyon, to meet one another, participate in activities together, and shape their intercultural exchanges through a collective creative process.
The goal of your project
To build connections between long-time residents of Nyon and people with migration backgrounds who have arrived more recently, through informal and recurring meetings, and to give these exchanges a creative form to strengthen social cohesion and mutual understanding among residents of diverse backgrounds.
Your project in detail:
Nyon is a diverse city, but truly connecting with one another beyond superficial neighborhood ties is not a given. “À deux, à Nyon!” aims to pair long-time residents with people with migrant backgrounds who have recently arrived in Nyon, so they can share several get-togethers over the course of a year in everyday Nyon settings. Each pair receives a “suggestion booklet”: a small brochure with ideas for activities to enjoy together (visiting two cafés in Nyon, attending a show at the Usine à Gaz, visiting a museum or exhibition, or an activity of their choice), along with a dedicated budget to make these plans a reality. Six to seven group sessions are facilitated throughout the year by an external facilitator specializing in creative processes.(art therapist, artist) These sessions allow the pairs to share, explore, and give form—through drawing, writing, photography, collage, or other media—to their experiences of intercultural exchange and/or their own multicultural backgrounds. This collective work is compiled and presented, if the participants so desire, during a wrap-up event open to all participants and the public. A kickoff reception brings all the pairs together at the start of the project to build a sense of community. A final presentation evening wraps up the year, featuring the results of the creative work carried out with the pairs.
