Sundays in Motion: Move, breathe, reconnect.

Avatar: Michelle Cartin Michelle Cartin

Your project in two lines:
Free stretching, movement, and wellness sessions are held every Sunday in various locations throughout Nyon, open to everyone without prior registration. A friendly gathering that supports physical and mental health, encourages movement, strengthens social bonds, and contributes to the quality of life of the Nyon community.
The goal of your project
“Sundays in Motion” aims to improve the quality of life for Nyon residents by offering a free, friendly, and accessible gathering every Sunday dedicated to movement, well-being, and prevention. The project encourages adults to engage in gentle, regular physical activity to maintain their mobility, combat the effects of a sedentary lifestyle, and take care of their physical and mental health. It also provides a space where everyone can slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and share a moment of camaraderie—without competition, registration, or financial barriers. By taking place in various public spaces throughout the year, “Dimanches en mouvement” also helps strengthen bonds among residents, enhance the city’s living spaces, and promote a culture of prevention, well-being, and community.
Your project in detail:

“Dimanches en mouvement” offers 45 free movement and wellness sessions, held every Sunday in various public spaces in Nyon between April 2027 and April 2028.

Why this project?

The idea for this project arose from a very simple observation. For several years, the lead instructor has been leading weekly stretching and mobility classes at a fitness center in Nyon. These classes are regularly fully booked, and conversations with participants reveal a shared need: to regain mobility, improve the quality of their movements, better understand their bodies, and take care of their health—without focusing on performance.

Today, these practices are often only accessible through private lessons or gym memberships. “Dimanches en mouvement” aims to make them available free of charge to all adults in Nyon, regardless of their financial means or fitness level.

This initiative is based on a simple belief: prevention is better than cure. By encouraging regular physical activity, mobility, and recovery, the project helps preserve physical and mental health while strengthening social ties within the community.

What do we offer?

Each session offers a comprehensive approach to movement that combines mobility, stretching, fascia health, breathing, and various physical practices such as yin yoga and restorative yoga.

These complementary approaches help to:

  • improve mobility, posture, and balance;

  • maintain the health of the fascia and joints;

  • promote recovery and prevent certain types of pain;

  • develop body awareness and the quality of movement;

  • reduce stress through movement and breathing.

Beyond physical activity, participants also leave with simple tools they can use in their daily lives to take care of their health in the long term.

Who is it for?

The sessions are open to all adults, regardless of age or fitness level. The exercises are adaptable so that everyone can participate at their own pace, whether they’re athletic, a beginner, or just getting back into exercise.

No prior registration is required: everyone is free to join a session based on their preferences and availability.

How will the project be organized?

The sessions will be led by certified and experienced professionals, selected for their expertise and their ability to guide groups in a supportive and safe environment.

The requested budget is primarily allocated to compensate these instructors for the 45 sessions. It also covers project promotion, necessary equipment and signage, as well as organizational costs to ensure the smooth running of activities throughout the year.

On sunny days, the sessions will take place in parks and by the lake. In the fall and winter, they will be held in community centers or other indoor spaces to ensure the project’s continuity regardless of weather conditions.

A Project for the Entire Community

Beyond the health benefits, “Dimanches en mouvement” is a project centered on connection and community. By making use of various public spaces in Nyon, it helps bring neighborhoods to life, strengthen bonds among residents, and make preventive health and wellness activities—often reserved for paid classes—accessible to the entire adult population.
