Artistic mural at Place St-Martin

In the heart of the old town, Place St-Martin has been transformed and now makes way for greenery as well as pedestrians. This redevelopment is coming to a close with a collaborative creation: a floor mural inspired by designs created by children from Nyon and the surrounding region.

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, a creative workshop kicked off this initiative, bringing together about thirty children and their parents, who attended despite the pouring rain. The artist guided the young participants in designing the mural’s motif, based on the theme of nature in the city. The young artists were able to imagine the future tiny inhabitants of this space—insects, birds—in the form of “exquisite corpses,” and then work on the leaves and bushes.

To enrich the experience and serve as a source of inspiration, the Nyon Library offered a selection of books on the theme of nature in the city.

Based on these drawings, the artist proposed two sketches, taking into account the technical constraints of creation and maintenance. The version chosen by the Municipality was created from August 11 to 15, 2025. The artwork is now on display in public space!

The square was inaugurated on Saturday, September 13, with entertainment, a presentation of the project, and refreshments provided by the City.
